Tithing, “should you really?”

Cain and Abel were the first to give tithe to the Lord in Genesis 4:3-4. Then Abraham Genesis 4:17-20, Jacob Genesis 28:22, Moses Deuteronomy 12, 14, and 26, Malachi 3:8

Tithing: ten percent of your income you give to the church. A practice as part of your faith. The first tithing was not money, but crop, livestock and agricultural firstfruit. It was a way to thank God for your many blessings recieved.

Today tithing is for some, to pay the pastors of the church, the up keeping of the church, to build a new church, and the list goes on. Funny how it had started out to be about God.

As a person of faith, I don’t define tithing as something I have to believe in, rather something I enjoy to do. I love to give, because of the joy it brings to me to see others happy. Making others happy makes me happy. I truly believe in my heart, tithing is to show appreciation for the blessings recieved from God. But in all truth, I can’t see our God of all creation needing anything from us, especially ten percent of our income or goods. Tithing is for our own well being as well as others. To make sure everyone in our camp is not in need of anything, like when God fed the Israelites in the wilderness with manner. We must all have, no one should be left out and have to do without. For example, you shouldn’t have a bill to pay and you can’t afford, or need food on your table for your family. To me that’s what tithing should be all about.

Just to think long ago the Church was so sacred that people would donate lots of money for the love God and all blessings recieved in their lives. Today the respect for God has gone cold, so cold that the love of money has taken over the churches that it sacredness no longer exists.

I don’t like when tithing is used as bargain into God’s good grace for you to be blessed or insurance not to die and go to hell. Tithing also should not be forced upon someone. If you can’t tithe from the willingness of your heart or the moving of the Holy Spirit then don’t. The Lord will provide all we have to do when desperately in need of money for your church is have faith and pray. It is written ask and you shall recieve, but first ask God, not man.

Freely give and you would freely recieve. Meaning giving without expectation. When you give without expectation our God who sees and know our every need and desire will bless you unexpectedly. A blessing as small as a little seed share it heart to heart.
