The Luminous Mysteries

Thursday is the Luminous Mystery. The First Luminous Mystery: The Baptism of Christ in the Jordan. Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist. The second Luminous Mystery: The Wedding Feast at Cana. Jesus turn the water into wine. The Third Luminous Mystery: Jesus proclamation of the coming of the Kingdom of God. Jesus began to preach saying, “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The Fourth Luminous Mystery: The Transfiguration. Jesus took Peter, John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. Today as I concentrated on this Mystery of the Rosary as Jesus prayed his countenance was altered, and his raiment became dazzling white. It was said two men spoke to Jesus that looked like Moses and Elijah. I believed Jesus entered into a secret place where he took his most trusted and faithful disciples, Peter, John and James. Many times in the scriptures Jesus always steel away into isolation from his disciples especially after dealing with many crowds of people. It seems like Jesus was going for restoration of the virtue that left his body in the ministering and healing of the people. The two figures believed to be Moses and Elijah could have been the same angels that came and ministered to him in the wilderness after fasting for forty days and being tempted by the devil, Matthew 4:11. And the two angels at the tomb of Jesus, John 20:12.

The Fifth Luminous Mystery: The Institution of the Eucharist. Jesus took the bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ” take, eat; this is my body.” And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks he give it to them, saying, “drink of it, for this is my blood of the covenants which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

My conclusion: The Luminous Mystery is strictly focused on Jesus’s mission in bring the Kingdom of God to all with his teaching and miracles.
