The Joyful Mysteries

First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation. The angel Gabriel told Mary God found favor with her and she’s going to be the mother of Jesus. As I mediated on the Annuciation to Mary by the angel Gabriel, I realized that Mary was chosen because she was a virtuous women. When the angel Gabriel told Mary God found favor with her, it was her being rewarded for being faithful and true to the Lord. She asked questions showing her wisdom when she said to the angel “how shall this be, since I have no husband.” And when the angel had answered her question, Mary didn’t hesitate she said, ” yes.” Showing her faithfulness to the Lord.

Second Joyful Mystery: The Visition. Mary goes to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was also pregnant. The baby leaped in Elizabeth womb at the greeting of Mary. Third Joyful Mystery: The Nativity. Jesus is born in a manger in Bethlehem. Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation in the Temple. Mary takes the baby Jesus to the Temple according to the custom of the law of Moses. Fifth Joyful Mystery: The finding in the Temple. For three days Mary and Joseph look for Jesus after believing they lost him in Jerusalem after they had visited it for the feast of the Passover. Jesus was found in the Temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. He was twelve years old and everyone was amaze at his intelligence. He told his parents when found, “he was about his Father’s business.”

The Joyful Mystery reminds us once again of Mary importance in God’s plan of salvation for all of humanity.
